Culinary Art in Ürünlü Village, Turkey

Conclusion: As we see above while Çatalhöyük represents the beginnings of the neolithic way of life, ten thousand years later Ürünlü represents one of those hundreds and thousands of villages world-wide, which have come about to abandon skills of survival that is being being self-sufficient and independent. To avoid this as much documentation as possible about food production, processing habits, health practises and wellbeing must be documented. This is because the Ürünlü case shows that food consumption has both biological and social functions of feeding the inhabitants; sustaining village culture, assuring social cohesion, giving sense of belongingness leading to wellbeing and good health. As demonstrated and testified by local peasant women and men; then evaluated in the light of literature such work calls for further documentation all over Türkiye to reverse the extinction of rural cultures.
